Its Deccan chargers in the finals !!

Its Deccan Deccan, all the way through out the 1st semi final match of IPL 2009. What a blistering knock by one the greatest cricketer of all time, Gili. I sensed the victory before the first ball was bowled. My close friend texted me asking to whom he can bet against, I replied DC. Hurray He also won bidding points.

Taking about Gili, he has this characteristic of blowing away the opposition, especially during the semis and finals of the most off the tournament. You don’t need examples to prove this as every one know about the his match winning knock in the World cup 2007 (yes!!! India headed home in the league itself). The same case in 2003 world cup final, he fired from the ball number one of Zaheer Khan
.
Man what a knock 85 of 35 balls (of course he is the fastest 50 in IPL which came of in 17 balls). The DC victory came right from their 1st over when harris picked the Gauti and warner of 2 balls. Then Viru and dilshan helped DD to post a moderate 153 for 8. That was not enough when the player like Gili is on a song. I feel Gili’s knock is the best of the IPL 2009.

One good knock,
One good over,
One good catch,
One good spell,
One good partnership
is enough to win the knock out stages. This match is the perfect example of above.

The next match is between the Bevdaas vs Cool dude’s team (yes, I am a follower of Fake IPL Player blog ).

P.S In My prediction of who wins IPL, there was two matches didn’t turn as I predicted because of that bevdaas team picked the 3rd spot but rest every thing remains same. Still the Semis prediction holds good (In place of big sister’s team bevdaas are there).

Vodafone - ZooZoo Ad making - Behind the scenes

Everyone would have loved the new vodafone ad featuring the cute toys. Their name is "ZooZoo". What everybody little know is that ZooZoo's are not animation they are actually humans inside costume. All of them are females, who are short and thin and they were selected from drama theaters in and around Mumbai. Most important of all they acted blindly by wearing the ZooZoo maxk whic is bigger that their head. To make them look shorter the background environment has been made larger. vodafone has made 30 ads @ 30 crores featurinf these ZooZoo's. Already 15 has been telecasted. So watch out for the next 15. Below are the behind scene pics of Vodafone ZooZoo Ad making.

Prakash Varma, ad filmmaker, Nirvana Films, has directed the commercials, and reveals that the Zoozoos were a big challenge to create. The practical aspects of how they will move, talk, gesticulate and emote were very important. Essentially, costume design and artwork were crucial elements.

It took me three weeks of pre-production to understand how it will work, says Varma. There were two fabrics that were considered for the body suits, and one was rejected for it had too many wrinkles and was shiny. The wrinkles would have shown when the characters moved, thereby shattering the illusion of animation. So we chose the more practical, thicker fabric, Varma explains.

The production team divided the outfit into two parts: the body and the head. The body part of the outfit was stuffed with foam in some places, while the head was attached separately. To make it look bigger than a human head, a harder material called Perspex was used, which in turn was stuffed with foam (with scope for ventilation).

If one wishes to understand the size of this head, heres a fact: A human head would typically reach up to the mouth level of this giant Zoozoo head. We kept the hands and legs thin, which is why we cast women and occasionally children wearing the costumes, says Varma. The thin limbs, contrasted with big bellies and a bulbous head, all add to the illusion that these creatures are smaller than humans. Sets were created to suit the size of the Zoozoos.

Cinematically, this size was a trick: the creatures look smaller than they actually are on screen, to portray a different world of sorts. For this, the speed of shooting was altered: Nirvana shot it in a high-speed format to make them look the size that they do.

Furthermore, simple sets/backdrops were created and spray painted with neutral Greys a color of choice so that attention isnt diverted from the main characters. For a supposedly outdoor shot, even the shadow of a Zoozoo was kept live and not done in post production: it was painted in a darker shade of grey on the ground. An even lighting was maintained throughout. There was virtually no post production work done.

The films were shot by Nirvana in Cape Town, South Africa, with the help of a local production house there, called Platypus. Incidentally, the same combination of people also worked on the "Happy to Help" (Vodafone ad with the girl and dog) series last year.

Each IPL team's chances of semi-final spot

5 Matches to go, still this year edition of IPL has not finalized its final four. Each team has only one match in their hand. Here is the analysis of the chances of each team making it to semis.

So far,as many knows, only Delhi Daredevils has cemented their place in semis. Also Mumbai Indians and Kolkata knight riders are way out of the competition.

This left with 5 teams, who are having equal chances of getting into the remaining 3 spots of the Semis. I will give in breif about each teams chances here,

TeamSemi's ChanceAgainst Whom
DDInRCB,MI
CSK1 WinKXIP
DC1 WinRCB
KXIP1 WinCSK
RR1 WinKKR
RCB2 WinsDD,DC
MIOUTDD
KKROUTRR

CASE by CASE analysis

1) The chance that RR will enter depends on KXIP's performance against CSK, For this first RR has to win against KKR, then they have to pray that CSK wins against KXIP. In this case
CSK moves to 17 points, RR moves to 15 points and KXIP remains at 14 points

2) The chance of CSK not qualifying in Semis is minimal; even if they lose against KXIP, the net run rate will not get affect drastically, which helps them peep ahead of RR in the league table. If CSK lose it shuts the door for RR.

3) Between RCB and DC only one team will qualify these two itself has to play between each other. There is a chance that both will not qualify, the case is, if RCB lose to DD and win against DC.

My prediction of who wins the IPL still hold good, except for the league table points :)

Who will go to the semifinal and who will win the trophy is the million dollar question that comes to everyone’s mind. Here are my predictions of the same.

Initially we will see the standings as of 14th May, 2009

My Prediction of the final table,

My prediction for the Semi’s are

1st Semi final, Delhi Vs Hyderabad, In this match my predicted Winner is Hyderabad
2nd Semi final, Chennai Vs Rajasthan, In this match my predicted Winner is Chennai

Finals,
Hyderabad Vs Chennai, Here my predicted winner is Chennai but If Rajasthan win’s the 2nd match then they will lift the cup.

I predict IPL 2009 will settle either between Chennai Super Kings or Rajasthan Royals.
