MATCH NUMBER 37 : CSK vs RR @ Kimberly
Excellent batting display by the Chennai Super Kings have put them an inch closer to the Semi final berth. This is match number 37 of Indian premier league ( Chennai super Kings Vs Rajasthan Royals). Both the captains Shane Warne and MS Dhoni (the best captain of IPL) were in their element. In this match the toss played a crucial role here, because the 'pitch was getting slower and slower'. The captains were pushed to make a good decision, Shane Won the TOSS and decided to bat first, they must have reasoned that, CSK have not won any match 'by chasing a total' in this edition of IPL. So batting first would definitely give them a psychological edge. But in the end CSK won...
In this particular match CSK bowled really well. But unfortunately their fielding was not to the standards . They should understand and repeat in their minds "CATCHES WIN MATHCES" . Missed catches by Tyagi and sloppy fielding by Balaji and Murali are best examples. If only they had done their fielding well, CSK could have restricted RR to a 120, but they didn't (as expected) . Yusuf Pathan didn’t fire today except the big six over mid on of Jakati's ball. .
The RR bowling and fielding was excellent, this is the only team in IPL, which has the great team spirit display on the field. But in a particular over Shane calculated that the batsmen crossed the grease line then bowled a wide, wicket keeper caught the ball and took out a wicket. Now thats too calculating and not fair.. hmmm.. well thats open to debate.. Till the 15th over RR kept CSK at the bay, especially not allowing the Hayden to hit around the park. CSK took charge of the 16th over by Shane Harwood , Badri used the pace of the bowler and played some exclusive shots .That over went around to 20 runs (6,2,4,4,0,4). Badri played a sensible knock 59* of 41 balls. This helped Chennai to seal the game from RR.
Overall it was good performance from CSK and RR. And a nail biting finish. But CSK really needs to improve the fielding in order to win the IPL. RR has the potential and they have to be consistent in winning the matches like they did in last year’s edition (they won 14 of 16 matches played)
